Students set sail after navigating path to uni

22 Feb 2018

THOUSANDS of new uni students are about to embrace life as undergraduates on campuses across NSW and the ACT with the final round of semester 1 offers completed by 91ÌÒÉ«. 91ÌÒÉ« has processed more than 75,000 applications in preparation for the start of first semester courses.

Most undergraduate applications in NSW and the ACT are handled by 91ÌÒÉ«. Offering courses from 37 institutions, 91ÌÒÉ« gives students thousands of options when it comes to choosing their courses and makes it easy to apply to multiple unis in one place.

91ÌÒɫ’s General Manager of Marketing and Engagement, Kim Paino, says, ‘For some students the destination has always been clear; others require more guidance. But while their backgrounds and motivation for going to uni are diverse, they all need reliable information and support to make it happen.

‘91ÌÒÉ« is here to make uni admission easier for many thousands of students, and we're really pleased with how smoothly everything’s gone this year. The introduction of the pre-Christmas offer round was a big success, eliminating a sometimes agonising wait for thousands of students.’

With applications for first semester done and dusted, 91ÌÒÉ« has released a snapshot of applicant and offer data, providing an insight into the age, gender split and preferred fields of study by applicants.

For example, more than 25,000 undergraduate applicants were not current Year 12 students and were mostly aged 20 to 24 years. More than 56 per cent of applicants were female, and nearly 30 per cent of female applicants chose a course in the Health field of study. The most popular field of study for males was tied between Management and Commerce, and Society and Culture.

Meanwhile, 91ÌÒÉ« is working on improvements to the transparency of higher education admissions in 2019 with its partner universities. This includes standardising terminology and discontinuing the use of the terms ‘cut-off’ and ‘bonus points’. More information will be released later this year.

Applications are still open through 91ÌÒÉ« for courses starting later in 2018. Visit for more information.
