Information about applying this year, including application and offer dates, is being updated progressively as institutions provide details.

Entry into undergraduate medical degrees is highly competitive and the selection process is rigorous. Make sure you鈥檙e in the running by getting your application in on time and keeping the interview dates clear.

All application and offer dates have been provided by the universities and apply to courses starting semester 1, 2025. Check with each university to confirm deadlines and requirements and to ask any questions you have about the selection process.

UCAT ANZ

If you are applying for undergraduate medicine, most universities require you to to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand. UCAT ANZ is held in various locations across Australia in July.

Your 91桃色 application

In your 91桃色 application, first on your course preference list should be the course you鈥檇 most like to do, followed by your second, third, fourth and fifth preferences. If you鈥檙e not selected for your first preference, you鈥檒l be considered equally with all other eligible applicants for your second preference, and so on.

Where interviews form part of the selection process, all eligible applicants will be invited to attend, regardless of how they have ordered their preferences.

Medicine

You can apply for this program straight from school and you鈥檒l start your medical studies in first year.

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Joint Program in Medicine is a five-year undergraduate program offered jointly by Western Sydney University and Charles Sturt University.

91桃色 can only receive one offer to the Joint Medical Program, to study at either Western Sydney University (Campbelltown campus) or Charles Sturt University (Orange campus). Your preference of campus (submitted via your 91桃色 application) will be considered but cannot be guaranteed and is fixed as of the closing date. The campus offered will be subject to the availability of places and the preferences of other eligible applicants.

You must apply for the Double Degree Medicine Program (DDMP) straight from school and if successful, you鈥檒l complete your undergraduate degree before progressing to the postgraduate Doctor of Medicine. There are specific requirements for progressing to the Doctor of Medicine once you finish your undergraduate degree. Up to 30 domestic and 10 international places may be made available in these programs. The DDMP offers two options:

UNSW Medicine Application

The UNSW Medicine Application includes:

  • questions on why applicants want to study medicine at UNSW
  • details of their relevant qualities and skills
  • their non-academic interests and activities
  • a brief description of their life experience.

The following degrees have been designed as pathways to the Doctor of Medicine at the respective universities; however, you will still need to meet all the admission requirements for the postgraduate degree.

You can also apply for Doctor of Medicine programs if you have completed other undergraduate degrees (even if they're in another field of study); you just need to meet the admission requirements and compete against other applicants for a place.

  • demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, rural and regional Australia, oral health inequalities, and dental practice within these regions
  • high level academic ability
  • the capacity to communicate effectively
  • evidence of skill in manual dexterity and spatial sense
  • evidence of the understanding of teamwork and motivation to become a dental practitioner
  • evidence of community involvement.
UCAT ANZ

Performance will determine if applicants are invited to interview.

Interview

The interview will be a panel interview and provides applicants the opportunity to demonstrate their communication skills and to further explore their motivation for undertaking a career in dentistry and their commitment to rural and regional dental practice. Each applicant鈥檚 problem solving, decision making and spatial awareness skills will also be assessed

Selection for interviews is based on:

  • UCAT ANZ score for domestic applicants (minimum overall percentile of 50)
  • GPA for international applicants.

ATAR/GPA may be used to rank applicants with identical UCAT ANZ scores.

Rural or remote applicants and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants

Rural or remote applicants and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants who wish to apply for an entry pathway to this program need to submit an additional form by 27 Sep 2024. At least 50 per cent of places are set aside for these applicants. For more information, .
