Admission criteria and entry schemes

To be offered a place in a course at Torrens University Australia you must meet the minimum entry requirements listed in one or more of the following categories as well as satisfy English language requirements.

Undergraduate applicants

Australian Year 12 students

Selection will be based on completion of an Australian Year 12 or equivalent , including the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Overseas Year 12 equivalent

91ÌÒÉ« who have completed a secondary school qualification from an overseas institution within the past two-years, will have their application assessed by the International Admissions team to determine equivalency with the Australia secondary school certificate, using NOOSR and/or NARIC guidelines

Criteria that may apply in addition to a Year 12 qualification

In addition to achieving the standard admission criteria, students may also be required to satisfy additional selection criteria, such as a personal statement, a questionnaire, and a portfolio of work, an audition, an interview or a test. These criteria are taken into account either instead of, or in conjunction with, your Year 12 qualification or equivalent.

Schools Recommendation Scheme

Torrens University participates in the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS), which is processed centrally through 91ÌÒÉ«. SRS gives current Year 12 students an opportunity to receive early offers of admission and be assessed on a wide range of selection criteria, including school recommendations and senior secondary studies.

Torrens University Early Entry Program

The Early Entry Program is open to all Year 12 students who wish to secure their spot at Torrens University Australia before their year 12 exams. Application is easy and takes less than 10 minutes, and you will receive a conditional offer within 10 business days. To us, you’re more than just your ATAR. Our Early Entry program recognises your hard work and rewards you with an offer to study with us – before the release of your Year 12 results. Applications are open for our courses in the field of Business, Digital Technology, Design & Creative Technology, Health and Hospitality.

Torrens University has a number of admission pathways, which may allow you to receive an offer for a degree or diploma even though you do not meet the published entry requirements.


91ÌÒÉ« who have completed prior higher education study may be assessed and selected for admission if they meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any course-specific entry requirements including but not limited to interviews, referee reports and portfolios:

  • A completed higher education qualification at AQF level 5 (diploma) or above, or equivalent, from an Australian University or another accredited higher education provider
  • Successful completion of at least 1 EFTSL (equivalent full-time student load, or one full year) of an AQF level 6 (Associate Degree) or above, or equivalent, from an Australian University or another accredited higher education provider

Current or previous students at Torrens University Australia

91ÌÒÉ« who have completed prior vocational education study may be assessed and selected for admission if they meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any course-specific entry requirements including but not limited to interviews, referee reports and portfolios:

  • A completed vocational education qualification at AQF level 4 (Certificate IV) or above, or equivalent, from a registered training organisation (RTO)
  • Successful completion of at least 1 EFTSL (equivalent full time student load, or one full year) of an AQF level 5 (Diploma) or above, or equivalent, at a registered training organisation (RTO).
