Admission criteria and entry schemes

AIE Institute degrees do not have an ATAR requirement. Refer to the for more information.

To be eligible for entry to AIE Institute’s courses you must meet the general requirements listed in one or more of the following categories:

  • satisfy English language proficiency requirements for the course you are applying to
  • be selected in competition with other eligible applicants.

Undergraduate applicants

Australian Year 12 students

91جزة« who are current year 12 students or have completed year 12 within the last two years will be assessed on the basis of successful completion of the Australian Senior Certificate of Education (or equivalent secondary school qualification) and an interview.

As part of the acceptance process at AIE Institute, we organise an interview for each applicant. We want to ensure you have the best opportunity to succeed and would like to understand what skills and knowledge you bring to the program. At your interview we would be keen to see any creative work you have produced that is relevant to the major – game art, game design or game programming – that you have applied for. The interview helps us understand what you would want to learn and your long-term career aspirations.

Early entry admission options

AIE Institute participates in the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS). SRS allows year 12 applicants to receive early offers based on their year 11 academic results and their school’s recommendation.

  • foundation studies program or preparatory program recognised for admission purposes by another Australian higher education provider
  • relevant work experience that demonstrates equivalence to the entry requirements will be assessed for admission.

English language proficiency

If English is not your first language, you will be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.

AIE Institute provides an annual scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying in the discipline of game development.

Some courses select applicants based on additional selection criteria such as a portfolio or interview. Other courses may use a combination of both academic qualifications and additional selection criteria.
