The Bachelor of Dance Education is a specialist professional qualification that is unique in Australia equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills to become qualified to teach Dance and PDHPE in the secondary school system, or apply their skills and knowledge in other educational contexts
Students simultaneously broaden their experience in dance and in physical and health education, in an environment that focuses on educational pedagogy. Both teaching areas are supported by the study of personal development, health, and the anatomy of the human body.
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is offered as a parallel course of study, enabling students to qualify in a second teaching method and a key learning area in secondary schools. The Bachelor of Dance Education is endorsed by the NSW Department of Education.

Minimum age: Domestic applicants must be 18 years of age or turn 18 within their first semester of study. International applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Questionnaire: 91ÌÒÉ« must successfully complete the Suitability to Teach Questionnaire.
Literacy and numeracy skills: 91ÌÒÉ« must sign a form acknowledging that they understand the AITSL and NESA regulations requiring them to demonstrate literacy and numeracy capacities commensurate with the top 30% of the population through the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students (LANTITE). The LANTITE test is administered by ACER (at applicant's cost) and must be passed prior to commencing their final professional experience.
Inherent requirements: Students must meet (capabilities, knowledge, skills) to achieve the course learning outcomes.
Assumed Knowledge: 2 units of English, experience and training in dance.

English language requirements: All applicants must meet the minimum English language requirements for their chosen course of study.
Computer literacy: All applicants for entry to any course must meet minimum computer literacy standards as determined by the college, have a personal email account and unrestricted access to the internet.
Working with Children Check: For courses that involve work integrated learning where students may deal with children (ie under 18 years of age) a valid Working with Children Check must be supplied to the college prior to the student undertaking coursework. 91ÌÒÉ« who anticipate failing a Working with Children Check should not apply for course entry.
To be considered for direct entry to the Bachelor of Dance Education, applicants who have completed Year 12 must meet one of the following requirements:

Students can only progress to the second year of the course if they:
Students who do not meet these progression requirements will transfer to the Bachelor of Dance Practice.
Initial Teacher Education degree applicants who do not meet the direct entry requirements may be considered for entry via the indirect entry pathway program. Students must enrol in the Bachelor of Dance Practice and may be permitted to transfer to the second year of the Bachelor of Dance Education under the following conditions:
The College reserves the right to refuse entry to any applicant based on an individual’s inability to demonstrate to its satisfaction suitability for entry into an ITE program.
Dance Workshop: Students applying to enter these courses must meet the requirements under one of the categories above. 91ÌÒÉ« for Dance degrees are expected to have experience and training in Dance, which may include Dance as a HSC subject. Students will be required to attend a dance workshop prior to enrolment. Through the dance workshops, we will be able to assess the level of your dance skills and assign appropriate level tutorial group. Students are encouraged to disclose pre-existing injuries which may affect your study.

91ÌÒÉ« may request recognition of prior learning (RPL). Applications for RPL will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the college's Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedure.
